Powerpoint is a great way to make and configure presentations for business or personal purposes. Powerpoint comes as a part of Microsoft Office suite and can be bought for an amount. It is one of the most widely used slide software in the world.

Change slide size in Powerpoint

Here are the steps to change the slide size in Powerpoint.

Step 1: Open Powerpoint and then click on the Design tab at the top.Step 2: Click on Slide Size at the right end of the tab. Check out the screenshot below to get an idea.

Step 3: Here, you will see three options — Standard (4:3), Widescreen (16:9) and Custom Slide Size. You can select either of these options as per your requirement.

When Powerpoint is unable to determine the slide size, you will see two other options — Ensure fit and Maximise. Let us understand these two options:

Ensure Fit: Use this option when you want to change your slide to a smaller resolution. This option will ensure that you can see the contents of the slide but in a small view.
Maximise: Use this option when you want to extend the slide resolution. Sometimes, this will lead to the content being cut along the edges, and you won’t be able to view all of the contents.

How to create a custom slide size in Powerpoint?

You can also create your custom slide size in Powerpoint. Here are the steps to so.

Step 1: Open Powerpoint and then go to Design > Slide Size > Custom Slide Size. Step 2: Here, you will see tons of options that you can choose to configure your slide size. Let us look at some of these options. First, according to your requirement, select the slide size by clicking on the drop-down menu under Slide Sized For option. Step 3: Now, select the slide height and width. You can enter the size in centimetres (cm), pixels (px) or inches (in). Use the appropriate abbreviation while mentioning the numbers. Here are the maximum and minimum dimensions that you can enter:

Minimum: 1 in, 2.54 cm, 120 px.
Maximum: 56 in, 142.24 cm, 720 px.

How to set the default slide size?

If you want to work on a particular slide size, then you need to set it as default. Here are the steps of how you can set a default slide size. (By default, you will get 16:9 slide size).

Step 1: After that, go to Design > Slide Size > Custom Slide Size. Here, change the slide as per your wish. After you have done that, continue further. Step 2: Now, click on the More downward arrow located in the Themes heading and then select Save Current Theme.Step 3: Give a name to the theme that you can remember easily and then click on Save. Remember, do not change the folder where you will save the theme. Step 4: To select the theme, go to File > New > Custom > Select the theme.Step 5: Now, go to Design> More downward arrow.Step 6: Here, you will see the theme under the custom heading.
