Short-form mobile video-sharing app Tik Tok has successfully mimicked not only the content format but also the popularity of the social video sharing Vine app that shut shop in January 2017 after facing stiff competition from Facebook-owned Instagram. TikTok is still in its early years, and while the app’s popularity has soared in the Asian as well as North American markets, it’s still not clear whether this is a fad or will be a trend that stays alive and kicking in the coming years.
If you’ve recently signed up on TikTok to either enjoy the user-generated content in various genres or create your content and a fanbase, it’s essential to get your name and username right from the get-go so that people know where to look for you once you hit your mark.
If you’re unable to locate the settings to change your TikTok username or name, here is a short guide to help you do that.
How to change your username on TikTok?
To change your name or username on TikTok, open the app and follow the steps given below. Note that username is the name of your TikTok handle that appears after the @ symbol and can be used to search or tag your in posts on the platform. It also appears alongwith your posts on TikTok.
- Tap on the Me option located at the extreme right of the toolbar at the bottom.
- On your profile page, tap on the Edit profile button.
- On the next page, tap on Username.
- On the next page, edit your username and then tap on Save.
Follow the same steps to change your name, except tap on Name in the third step instead of Username. Refer to the screenshot below for clarity.
