Check the internet connection

Disable Find My Mac on a Used Mac
If the person who owned your Mac before you didn’t sign out of their Apple ID account, you’ll need to get their Apple ID password to disable Find My Mac. Alternatively, you can remove the Mac from their Apple ID account using iCloud from another device.
