OpenAI has begun rolling out enhancements, including direct file integrations from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, expanded view for tables and charts, customisable and downloadable charts, and privacy enhancements. These updates, available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users, are implemented through the new GPT-4o model.

A key highlight of these enhancements is the ability to directly upload files from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive into ChatGPT. This new functionality streamlines the process by eliminating the need for intermediate downloads to a local device.

Users can now directly incorporate Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint files into the platform, thereby expediting data analysis.

“These improvements build on ChatGPT’s ability to understand datasets and complete tasks in natural language,” said OpenAI.

The update also features an expanded view of tables and charts, providing users with an interactive and dynamic data visualisation experience. Users can enlarge tables to a full-screen view, allowing them to monitor real-time updates during their analysis.

This feature enables users to interact with specific data points, pose follow-up questions, and utilise suggested prompts to strengthen their insights further. These updates allow users to, for example, merge spreadsheets of monthly expenses and generate pivot tables categorised by expense type within ChatGPT.

In addition to the interactive tables, users can now customise various charts — including bar, line, pie, and scatter plots — directly in their conversations with ChatGPT. This capability allows users to adjust chart elements, ask detailed questions, and select custom colours. Once the charts are tailored to their needs, users can download them for use in presentations or documents.

OpenAI does not use data from Team and Enterprise customers for training purposes. Users can also opt out of data training through Data Controls. The platform also supports SAML SSO, compliance measures, and data encryption for an added security layer.
