HomePod mini comes in 3 new colours for $99

At the ‘Unleashed’ Apple event, the company introduced three new colours for the Homepod mini — yellow, orange and blue — which will be available for $99 starting in November.

The new colours will add to the white and space gray colour schemes. It will be available in Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan, UK, and USA

The Apple Music voice plan, also introduced at the event, can also be accessed via Homepod mini. It will offer a catalogue of 90 million songs and tens of thousands of playlists, including the new customised playlists for moods and activities, personalised mixes by Siri and Apple Music Radio.

Apple boasts effortless smart home control, a powerful Siri integration that can recognise voices of up to six different household members and tailor music, reminders, notes and more for all of them.

The mini is powered by Apple’s S5 chip, enabling it to run advanced software to analyse music and deliver the best sound range through its full-range driver — producing bass and crisp high frequencies.

The sound-down design creates an immersive 360-degree audio experience. However, Apple says that won’t hinder Siri’s ability to look out for voice commands as in addition to the three-microphone array actively listening for ‘Hey, Siri’, a fourth inward-facing mic allows the speaker to cancel out the sounds coming from the speakers.

“HomePod mini sounds incredible, and with access to more than 90 million songs in the global Apple Music catalogue and deep integration with your Apple devices, it’s the must-have smart speaker for iPhone users. With new vibrant colours, HomePod mini fits in even more places and delivers amazing sound, the power of Siri, and simple and secure smart home controls, all while protecting your privacy,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
