Various ways will help you erase content with Apple Pencil on iPad
Erasing with the eraser icon
If the app features an eraser icon, tap on that icon and then use your Apple Pencil to draw (erase) over the area you want to remove. This eraser function might behave similarly to a pencil, pen, or brush stroke, allowing for a seamless erasing experience. Additionally, some apps offer the flexibility to adjust the size of the eraser/draw/pencil/pen/brush tip, enabling you to customise the tool to suit your needs.

Undo and Redo
Suppose the application includes an undo/redo function (sometimes represented by circular arrow symbols, where a clockwise arrow is redo, and a counter-clockwise arrow is undo). In that case, you can use your Apple Pencil to tap on these symbols or their names. It’s important to note that each app may display its undo/redo feature differently.

Use the Selection tool
Many apps for iPad offer different tools to give a boost to your creativity. There are apps like Freeform where you can use the Selection tool to remove any object. To erase any object from the screen, choose the selection tool, mark the area around the object you want to remove and tap on the Delete button.

Double tap Apple Pencil (only for 2nd Gen)
With the second-generation Apple Pencil, you can double-tap near the tip of the pencil and switch back to the tool you used previously. To customise this double-tap feature and make it switch between the current tool and the eraser, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to Settings app, scroll down and tap on Apple Pencil in the sidebar.
Step 2: Now, on the right side of the screen, you will see various options:
- Switch between the current tool and the eraser
- Switch between the current tool and the last used
- Show colour palette
- Off
Choose the first option: Switch between current tool and the eraser. When you double-tap your Apple Pencil, it will switch between the current tool you are using and the eraser.
Keep in mind that the double-tap function is effective only in supported apps, such as Notes.
Scribble over text
If you are working with texts on your iPad and you want to erase something, you can scribble a line over the word or phrase, and it will be erased.
