How to unsync Google Photos from iPhone?

With the rise of cloud-based storage solutions, Google Photos has become a popular choice for iPhone users to securely store and manage their precious memories. However, many iPhone users don’t use Google Photos. Still, Google Photos is automatically syncing the photos from their iPhone, and if they try to delete the photos from Google Photos, it also gets deleted from their iPhone.

Unsyncing Google Photos from iPhone

If your Google Cloud storage is almost full because of photos backing up from your iPhone automatically and you want to unsync the Google Photos from your iPhone, follow the steps below.

  • Open the Google Photos app on your iPhone and tap on your Profile icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  • Tap on the Google Photos settings option.
  • In settings, tap on Backup & Sync.
  • On the next screen, turn the toggle off beside Backup & Sync.

How to limit Google Photos access on your iPhone?

Unsyncing Google Photos will stop it from backing up photos from your iPhone to the cloud, but still, if you delete photos from Google Photos, it will also be deleted from your iPhone. To stop that, you have to limit its access on your iPhone.

  • Go to Settings on your iPhone.
  • Look for Google Photos and tap on it.
  • Under Allow Google Photos To Access, tap on Photos.
  • On the next screen, tap on None to limit Google Photos access.

Now you can remove the Google Photos app from your iPhone and delete the photos from your Google Photos app or site without affecting the photos in your iPhone’s gallery.
