Youtube is one of the most used online video sharing platforms with billions of users sharing, uploading, and watching videos.
Commenting with a timestamp is a very useful tool for those who have any confusion in any part of the videos and want to ask the uploader about that part or you want to highlight something relevant for other users to jump directly there and watch.
Here we will guide you through how to link timestamp on the Youtube website and app.

Linking timestamp in Youtube comment on the website
Open the Youtube video you want to comment in with timestamp and follow the steps below.
Step 1: Pause the video at the time you want to put a comment on and look at the time stamp beside the volume icon in the seek bar of the video located at the bottom of the playback window.
Step 2: Scroll down to Add a public comment just below the description of the video.
Step 3: Type the comment and include the timestamp exactly as it appears in the seek bar of the video. Click on the Comment button on the right corner of the comment box. For example, (as displayed in the screenshot below) we wanted to link the time in Youtube comments so that it if someone clicks on it, the video starts at the 1 minute 30 seconds mark; so we just entered 1:30 there.
Step 4: It will automatically create a link to that time in the video. You can click on the link time to confirm whether or not the video starts at that point.

The process for linking a timestamp in Youtube is similar to linking timestamp in the Youtube website, however the location of objects might differ; so here’s a separate guide for the Youtube app.
Open the Youtube app and the video you want to link the time in the comments, and follow the steps below.
- Pause the video and look at the time you want to comment on the left bottom of the video.
- Then tap on the comments.
- All comments will appear, tap on the Add a public comment box on the top of all comments.
