If you’re looking for keyboard shortcuts for MS-Paint or Paint 3D, look no more as here are all the shortcuts you need to know while working on either of the Windows tools for editing images and creatives.

MS-Paint keyboard shortcuts

  • F11: Enable full-screen viewer for images.
  • F12: Save the image as a new file or ‘Save as’.
  • Ctrl and A: Select the entire image.
  • Ctrl and B: Format the entire selected text to bold.
  • Ctrl and C: Copy highlighted content to the clipboard.
  • Ctrl and E: Open Properties.
  • Ctrl and G: Toggle gridlines on and off.
  • Ctrl and I: Format the highlighted text to italics.
  • Ctrl and N: Create a new image.
  • Ctrl and O: Open an image.
  • Ctrl and P: Print an image.
  • Ctrl and R: Toggle the ruler on and off.
  • Ctrl and S: Save changes, overwriting the same file.
  • Ctrl and U: Highlighted text is underlined.
  • Ctrl and V: Paste the content from the clipboard.
  • Ctrl and W: Access the resize and skew box.
  • Ctrl and X: Cut the highlighted text.
  • Ctrl and Y: Redo.
  • Ctrl and Z: Undo.
  • Ctrl and + (plus): Increases the size of the selected brush, line or shape tool by a pixel.
  • Ctrl and – (minus): Decreases the size of the selected brush, line or shape tool by a pixel.
  • Ctrl and Page Up: Zoom in.
  • Ctrl and Page Down: Zoom out.
  • Alt and F4: Close the image and its window.
  • Right arrow: Move the selected object a pixel to the right.
  • Left arrow: Move the selected object a pixel to the left.
  • Down arrow: Move the selected object down by a pixel.
  • Up arrow: Move the selected object up by a pixel.
  • Shift and F10: Open the context menu.

Paint 3D keyboard shortcuts

  • Ctrl and 0 (including 0 on the Numpad): Reset zoom level to standard.
  • Ctrl and 3: Switch the view.
  • Ctrl and A: Toggle switch for selecting all your 3D items or 2D items.
  • Ctrl and B: Format the highlighted text to bold.
  • Ctrl and C or Insert: Copy highlighted content to the clipboard.
  • Ctrl and Shift and C: Take a screenshot.
  • Ctrl and E: Show the properties of the active canvas.
  • Ctrl and Shift and C: Toggle for showing or hiding 3D perspective.
  • Ctrl and G: Group the objects.
  • Ctrl and Shift and G: Ungroup the objects.
  • I: Activate the eyedropper tool.
  • Ctrl and I: Format the highlighted text to italics.
  • M: Toggle to expand or minimise the side menu.
  • Ctrl and N: Create a new file or image.

  • Ctrl and X or Delete: Cut the highlighted object.
  • Ctrl and Shift and X: Crop 2D selection.
  • Ctrl and Y: Redo.
  • Ctrl and Z: Undo.
  • Escape (Esc): Stop the current task or leave.
  • Home: Reset.
  • Page Up or Ctrl and Page Up: Zoom in.
  • Page Down or Ctrl and Page Down: Zoom out.
  • Ctrl and mouse wheel: Zoom in or out.
  • Ctrl and Left arrow: Orbit towards the left.
  • Ctrl and Right arrow: Orbit towards the right.
  • Ctrl and Up arrow: Orbit upwards.
  • Ctrl and Down arrow: Orbit downwards.
  • Alt and Left arrow: Pan to the left.
  • Alt and Right arrow: Pan to the right.
  • Alt and Up arrow: Pan upwards.
  • Alt and Down arrow: Pan downwards.
  • Ctrl and – (minus) or [: Decrease the size of the brush tool.
  • Ctrl and + (plus) or ]: Increase the size of the brush tool.
  • Right arrow: Move the selected object a pixel to the right.
  • Left arrow: Move the selected object a pixel to the left.
  • Down arrow: Move the selected object down by a pixel.
  • Up arrow: Move the selected object up by a pixel.
  • Alt and F4: Close your program.
  • F6: Cycle through screen elements.
  • F10: Open menu bar in the app.
  • Shift and F10: Open the context menu.
  • F11: Enable full-screen view.
