Netflix launches a new plan in Kenya that will allow people to watch a limited number of titles, including Blood & Water, Bridgerton, Lupin, Dynasty, Money Heist and Army of the Dead, for free on Android phones.
The free plan, a first for Netflix globally, isn’t supported by ads either, which means an ad-free experience on Android smartphones for free for viewers in Kenya.
All they need to do is sign-up. No payment information will be required during sign up. The free plan also includes personalised recommendations, parental controls and profiles.
People can upgrade to one of the paid plans offered by Netflix in the country to access the entire catalogue of movies and series available in that region.
Netflix’s free plan in Kenya started rolling out on Monday and will be available throughout the country over the next few weeks.
“We’re giving audiences in Kenya the chance to experience these stories for themselves — completely free of charge. We hope it’s a great match and that many of the people who try our free plan love Netflix so much that over time they upgrade to a full, paid subscription,” said Cathy Conk, Director, Product Innovation at Netflix.
