  • 3 min read

As we shift from traditional TV towards online streaming, streaming devices that plug into your TV are becoming increasingly important daily. Roku is one of the most popular streaming devices out there, but as well-made as it is, it often runs into bugs and glitches.

In this article, we discuss why Netflix is not working on your Roku and how to fix the problem.

Why is Netflix not working on Roku?

There are several reasons why your Roku might not be able to stream Netflix. Some of the most popular reasons include the following:

  • Internet connectivity issues.
  • Server issues with Netflix.
  • Misconfigured Roku settings.
  • Outdated Roku firmware.

How to fix this?

Here are seven fixes you can try out.

Restart Roku

Restarting your Roku and your TV is a good idea and, more often than not, will fix any such random issues that you might face.

Check your internet connection

It’s also a good idea to keep an eye on your internet connection. 4k content is heavy on the bandwidth to stream, and if you don’t have enough of it, you can sometimes run into this error. At least 25mbps upload and download speeds are recommended.

Check if Netflix is down

Although rare, even the most prominent tech giants go offline sometimes, and Netflix is no exception. If the service is down, there’s nothing much you can do other than wait for it to come back online again.

Update the Netflix Channel

Most, if not all, channels you have on your Roku device will require updating periodically. If you’re stuck with Netflix not working, try checking for updates to the channel and if there are any, install them right away.

Reinstall the Netflix Channel

If you don’t have any updates and Netflix isn’t down. Reinstalling the channel on your Roku isn’t a bad idea either. Just be sure to restart your Roku before you reinstall the channel.

Check for Software Update

Resetting network settings and connecting to your WiFi again can also help get the bug fixed.

Step 2: Inside Settings, select System.

Step 3: Select the Advanced system settings and select the Factory reset option.
