Microsoft adds Nvidia’s GeForce Now to Xbox game store

Microsoft is set to integrate Nvidia’s GeForce Now service into its Xbox game store pages. This new integration will give users the choice between Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia’s GeForce Now when viewing game listings on the web.

Microsoft’s Xbox game listing currently features their proprietary Xbox Cloud Gaming service under the “play with cloud gaming” option. As the new “play with cloud” button has not been activated yet, it remains to be seen whether it will direct users to the GeForce Now homepage or facilitate direct game launches on Nvidia’s platform, reports The Verge.

Nvidia’s GeForce Now RTX 4080 tier stands out as a leading cloud gaming service. Nvidia asserts that its end-to-end latency surpasses that of an Xbox Series X running on a 60 Hz TV. This performance edge could make GeForce Now an attractive option for gamers seeking a seamless cloud gaming experience.

“If you own any of the supported Xbox games on Steam and have an account to either streaming service, you can play your game in the cloud from anywhere. Just make sure that you link your Steam account to either NVIDIA GeForce NOW or Boosteroid,” says the Xbox support page.

The partnership between Nvidia and Microsoft is not new. Earlier, the two giants entered into a 10-year agreement allowing Nvidia to license Xbox PC games for GeForce Now, including titles from Activision Blizzard.

Furthermore, Nvidia updated GeForce Now this year to enable members to sync their Xbox accounts and Microsoft Store purchases with the cloud gaming service. The update also supports streaming Xbox PC games via PC Game Pass on GeForce Now.

“If you own any of the supported games on the Microsoft Store or have a valid Game Pass subscription, you can stream those titles on NVIDIA GeForce NOW by signing in with your Microsoft account,” concluded the support page.
