Proton Pass, one of the leading password management services, will now incorporate the Proton Sentinel high-security program into its Proton Pass Plus plans.

With the integration of the Proton Sentinel program, an advanced layer of security has been introduced to counter evolving cyber threats.

While initially designed to protect high-profile individuals, including politicians, executives, journalists, and activists, it is now available to all subscribers.

Proton Sentinel has thwarted over 3,000 account takeover attacks since its launch in August. Often fueled by social engineering tactics, these attacks pose a significant threat to individuals.

Proton Sentinel employs artificial intelligence monitoring and human expertise to detect and identify suspected account takeover attempts. By leveraging the expertise gained from protecting over 100 million accounts through anti-abuse systems, Proton Sentinel can be helpful against social engineering attacks.

Upon activation, Proton Sentinel offers users a range of features:

  • Continuous monitoring by automated systems.
  • Immediate escalation of any suspicious events to a team of security analysts.
  • Automatic blocking of suspicious login attempts of the issuance of challenges.
  • Advanced dashboard providing an overview of security events and actions taken.

Proton, the company behind Proton Mail, is slowly expanding its business. Proton Pass came out of beta in June after about two months of testing.

In October, Proton announced a new feature on Proton Pass, Secure Password Sharing, allowing users to create shared encrypted vaults to share passwords.

In August, the company rolled out Proton VPN for business for an affordable price after adding NetShield Ad-blocker for the Plus customers in May and an auto-forwarding feature to forward their Gmail emails to Proton Mail.

Last but not least, Proton Calendar got an end-to-end encrypted sharing feature for secure sharing in April.

Proton (formerly ProtonMail) is a Switzerland-based company formed in 2014 by scientists from CERN. The company has a range of products, including Proton Mail, Proton Pass, Proton Drive, Proton Calendar, and Proton VPN.
