A little over seven years after Protonmail was first rolled out in beta, the encrypted email service has rolled out the first major redesign to its web platform, significantly changing the design language and bringing a few new features and tweaks.
The update is also expected to reflect in Protonmail apps for Android and iOS in the coming months.
The updated Protonmail version has a new look with personalisation options, including six preset themes — one of them gives you the Legacy look back. The much-needed redesign starts from the login page, which now looks fresher. More importantly, you won’t be logged out until you do so manually, even if you close the browser window.

The update also brings new keyboard shortcuts to streamline the workflow on the Swiss email service. Moreover, anyone looking to switch to other Proton apps like Proton Calendar, VPN or Drive can use the quick switch app selector tool at the top of the screen.

Protonmail also gets new filters to make it easier to sort messages, and the encrypted calendar service is now available to all users worldwide.
The end-to-end encrypted email service is famed for its privacy and security, which don’t go away; if anything, Protonmail’s resolve towards maintaining that seems bolder than ever.

‘We have redesigned ProtonMail to be easy to use, but it still ensures you are in control of your information at all times. The new ProtonMail is a crucial step toward our vision of building an internet where privacy is the default,” Protonmail announced.
