Raspberry Pi 4 released starting at $35: Specs and features

The Raspberry Pi is a nifty little credit card-sized computer that has totally flipped the way we look at embedded electronics and smaller computers. The device can run a full UNIX based OS, and all you need to do is hook up a keyboard, mouse and monitor to get it up and running.

If you’re setting up a Raspberry Pi for the first time and don’t have access to the aforementioned peripherals, you can even set it up in a ‘headless’ mode by SSHing into the tiny computer.

Raspberry Pi Foundation suggests using the Raspbian OS for the Pi as it’s built from the ground up for the device and contains all necessary drivers and software to make the most out of the computer.

The OS even sets up a default account for you when you boot it for the first time so that you can get up and running in no time.

What is Raspberry Pi’s default password?

Regardless of which version of Raspbian you install, the OS automatically creates a user for you to access the OS and its full capabilities.

The username for Raspberry Pi is pi, and the default password is raspberry.

The username and password are the same for all Pi models, including Raspberry Pi 4 and Pi 3.

Since user management in the Raspberry Pi OS is done on the command line, changing the default password for this account is a few commands. If you’re going to be using this Pi in a project or anywhere out in the field, we highly suggest changing the default password to prevent any intrusions.

Step 3: You’ll be prompted to confirm the new password once again.

If the two new passwords match, you’ll see passwd: password updated successfully on the terminal, and the password will come into effect immediately.
