Roku has announced that 30 ‘Roku Originals’ will debut on the Roku Channel on May 20, including content acquired from Quibi. The launch lineup includes award-winning series such as Die Hart, Reno 911 and About Face.
There are also a few documentaries like Blackballed and Big Rad Wolf and alternative and reality TV programs such as Punk’d and Chrissy’s Court. All 30 of the originals will be available for streaming exclusively on The Roku Channel.
Said titles also include both scripted and reality programming Roku acquired from Quibi earlier this year. Quibi was a short-form streaming service that shut down soon after the Roku show acquisition — a deal that involved 75 shows and priced the content at less than $100 million. These programs will be joining an existing pool of over 40,000 shows already streaming on The Roku Channel.
