Samsung has announced four new additions to their Galaxy Book lineup, including a Galaxy Book 2 Business and two Book 2 Pro models, Book 2 Pro and Book 2 Pro 360. A budget-oriented Book 2 360 was also announced, just a convertible version of last year’s Galaxy Book.

The devices start shipping on April 1, with pre-orders beginning on March 18. The Book 2 Pro and Book 2 Pro 360 start at $1049 and $1249 respectively. The Book 2 360 starts at $899.99 with no pricing announced for the Book 2 Business yet.

Both Book 2 Pro models come in two screen sizes each — 13.3 and 15.6-inches, with the Book 2 360 only getting a 13.3-inch model. As for the Book 2 Business, it’ll only be available in a 14-inch model and clamshell format. The Book 2 Pro is also a clamshell; although it’s a slightly pricier (and heavier) sibling, the Book 2 Pro 360 gets a detachable touchscreen with SPen support.

Interestingly, Book 2 Business is the newly released device to use Windows Hello Facial recognition. The rest of the lineup, including the Book 2 Business, gets a fingerprint sensor embedded inside the power button. There are 12th Gen Intel processors for all models, with varying RAM and storage configurations.

As mentioned above, the Pro lineup this year consists of two new devices, the Book 2 Pro and the Book 2 Pro 360. The Book 2 Pro is Samsung’s flagship thin and light laptop with a stark resemblance to the 2018 ARM-based Galaxy Book 2. However, this time around, Samsung is taking advantage of Intel’s new hybrid infrastructure.

The Book 2 Pro get AMOLED screens, and the Book 2 Pro 360 gets a Super AMOLED display with a bump in brightness over the previous generation, claiming over 400 nits of brightness and DisplayHDR 500. Thanks to Intel’s Arc GPU, the 15-inch Book 2 Pro has options for 5G (to be announced later) and discrete graphics.

Other than that, the webcams get a bump from 720p to full 1080p and a wider 87-degree lens. They can also do auto-framing and come with additional features like background blurring, framing and filters, among other options. A new bi-directional AI noise-cancelling feature accompanies the AKG speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The speakers also get a wattage bump going up to 5W.

On the convertible side, the Book 2 Pro 360 gets S Pen (which comes with the laptop) support with less latency this time around and support for Samsung Notes, which works on all Samsung devices. The interoperability between the Samsung ecosystem is also a thing to note here. The company has put in some effort to ensure a seamless ecosystem experience that includes a feature called Multi Control, allowing people to use the Galaxy Tab S8 as an extra screen with the Book 2 Pro series.

Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Business

Samsung has also announced a business-oriented device this time around. While the Book 2 Business doesn’t get a ‘Pro’ tag or multiple screen sizes, it’s still quite similar to the Book 2 Pro series, with the only notable hardware differences being the optional GeForce MX570A graphics, a smaller battery, lack of 5G connectivity and IR cameras for Windows Hello facial recognition.

It also has several security features, including a Tamper Alert function that detects and then tracks attempts to access “security-critical” data on the PC, stopping attacks before they get to the OS. This works by establishing a hardware-based Root of Trust, validating the BIOS and building a chain between the CPU and the SEP (secure embedded processor).

There’s no word from Samsung on the pricing yet; however, the company states that the computer will be available alongside the rest of the Book 2 lineup in April.
