What causes this error?

The Standard hardware security not supported error can be caused by various reasons, which are mentioned below.

  • Does not match the minimum requirements for Windows 11.
  • Outdated drivers.
  • Issues with Windows update.
  • Some bugs in Windows 11.

How to fix the issue?

Here are a few ways to help you fix the issue:

Meet the minimum system requirements

Windows 11 needs certain security settings to work properly. If you don’t have TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, or virtualisation enabled in your BIOS, that might be causing the problem.

Step 1: Restart your PC and keep pressing the BIOS button, usually F2, F10, or F12, depending on the PC’s brand.

Step 2: Use the arrow keys to go to the Boot tab.

Step 3: Find the Secure Boot option and enable it.

Step 4: Go to the Security tab, find TPM (Trusted Platform Module) and enable it. For the PCs with Intel chipsets, the option will be shown as Intel Trusted Platform Module Technology or just TPM Device and for the PCs with the AMD, the option will be shown as AMD TPM Configuration.

Step 5: Go to the Advanced tab and open CPU configuration for CPU visualisation. For the PCs with Intel chipsets, enable the Intel Virtualization Technology option and for the PCs with the AMD, go to Advanced Settings and enable SVM Mode.

Step 5: After enabling all three features, save the changes and restart your PC.

Enable Data Execution Prevention (DEP)

Enabling Data Execution Prevention on your PC can also fix the standard hardware security not supported error; follow the steps below to enable it:

Step 1: Press Windows + R to open Run. In the run dialogue box type sysdm.cpl and hit Enter.

Step 2: In the System Properties box, click on the Advanced tab and then click on the Settings button under the Performance section.

Step 3: Now, click Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only, then click Apply and the OK button.

Enable Memory Integrity

Memory integrity is the security feature of Windows, which adds an extra layer of protection from malware. To enable memory integrity, follow the steps below:

Step 1: In the Windows search, type Core isolation and click on the first result.

Step 2: Turn the toggle on below the Memory integrity.

Re-register the Windows Security App

You may need to re-register the Windows Security app to fix the standard hardware security not supported error. To re-register the Windows Security app, follow the steps below:

Step 1: In the Windows search, type Powershell and click on the Run as administrator option.

Step 2: In the PowerShell, copy and paste the following command PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command “& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI).InstallLocation + ‘\AppxManifest.xml’ ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}” and hit Enter.

Step 3: After the command is executed successfully, restart your PC.

Reinstall the Windows Security Platform

If the above methods didn’t work for you,, you can reinstall the Windows Security Platform. It will reinstall any corrupted file in the Windows Security Platform and fix the error. To reinstall the Windows Security Platform, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Type Cmd in the Windows search and click on the Run as administrator option.

Step 2: Type the command Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage and hit Enter.

Step 3: After the command runs successfully, you can close the command prompt and check if the issue is resolved.
