Amazon Canada announces monthly Prime membership plan

Amazon has announced a monthly prime membership plan for Canada that will cost $7.99 and is an alternative to the annual prime membership, which was launched in January 2013 and goes for $79.

The monthly membership will give customers the same benefit that they get with the annual membership. It includes access to Prime Video, Prime music, Prime Photos, Twitch Prime, early access to Lightning deals, free two-day shipping countrywide and free one-day as well as same-day delivery in a few cities.

Prime free same-day delivery is currently available in Toronto and Vancouver and their One-day delivery is available in six cities.

“Prime brings together the best of entertainment and shopping into a simple package at an unbelievable value for Canadians. With the launch of a monthly membership, we have added yet another easy way to enjoy Prime benefits,” said Mike Strauch, country manager for Amazon Canada.

The company says that the number Prime sign-ups have doubled in the past 18 months and they also offer a 30-day free Amazon Prime trial here.

With Prime Video you gain access to movies and TV shows, and you can access over one million songs on Prime Music.

Prime Photos gives you unlimited photo storage. Prime members also receive 30-minute early access to select Lightning Deals, get discounts compliments of Amazon Family and access to free shipping options.
