  • Images shouldn’t exceed 10,000px on the longest side.

Amazon’s main product image requirements

The main product image is the first picture shoppers will come across when they’re browsing through products on Amazon. It’s super important that this image grabs their attention and makes them want to learn more about your product. And to make sure it does that, it needs to meet the requirements outlined below.

  • The main images need to have a completely white background, like the ones you see on Amazon’s search and product pages. This means using the RGB color values of 255, 255, 255.
  • The main images need to be professional photos of the actual product itself. No graphics, illustrations, or fake representations are allowed. Also, avoid showing any extra accessories or props that might confuse customers.
  • There shouldn’t be any text, logos, borders, or other distractions in the main image. It’s all about showcasing the product itself without any extra clutter.
  • Each main image should only show one view of the product. You shouldn’t have multiple angles or different versions of the same item in one picture.
  • The entire product needs to be visible in the main image. Nothing should be cut off or hidden, except for jewellery, where it’s okay if it touches the edge a bit.
  • Products should be shown without any packaging. That means no boxes, bags, or cases in the picture unless they’re an important part of the product itself.
  • Main images shouldn’t have any human models sitting, kneeling, leaning, or lying down. But it’s okay to show different physical abilities using things like wheelchairs or prosthetics.
  • If you’re selling clothing or accessories in packs, the main image should be a flat photo of the items laid out, not being worn by a model.
  • For clothing accessories, don’t use any part of a mannequin in the main image, no matter what it looks like.
  • For men’s and women’s clothing, the main image should show the product being worn by a model.
  • For kids’ and baby clothing, the main image should be a flat photo of the item, not being worn by a model.
  • And for shoes, the main image should show just one shoe, angled to the left at about 45 degrees.
