Amazon’s used condition guidelines

  • Used – Like New or Open Box: This means the item is in excellent working condition, comes with its original packaging, and is in good shape with possible minor damage. It might still have its protective wrapping intact, and instructions should be included.
  • Used – Very Good: This indicates that the item has been taken care of, has seen limited use, and still functions well. There might be slight signs of wear, like small scratches or cosmetic flaws. The original packaging could be damaged, or the item might be repackaged. Any missing accessories should be clearly stated for each item.
  • Used – Good: In this condition, the item is still in decent shape and works perfectly but shows signs of wear from regular use. It might arrive repackaged or in damaged packaging and could have markings or minor cosmetic damage. It might also lack some parts, accessories, or instructions.
  • Used – Acceptable: This means the item is still functional but shows significant wear and tear. It might be repackaged or come in damaged original packaging. Expect scratches, dents, worn corners, or identifying markings. Parts, accessories, and instructions could be missing.

Step 1: Check Eligibility

  • Product Category: Ensure your item belongs to a category that allows used listings. Refer to Amazon’s Selling Policies for a comprehensive list.
  • Amazon Renewed: If selling used electronics, consider the Amazon Renewed program. However, qualification requires experience and meeting specific criteria.

Step 2: Create a Seller Account

  • If you don’t have one already, register for an individual or professional selling account on Amazon Seller Central.

Step 3: List Your Item

  • Navigate to your Seller Central dashboard, choose Manage Inventory and then click on Add a Product.
  • Search for the item and select the appropriate product listing or create a new one.
  • Choose the condition from the provided options (e.g., Used – Like New, Used – Very Good). Be accurate and honest in your description.
  • Provide detailed information about the item, including:
    • Product details: Brand, model, colour, etc.
    • Condition: Describe any imperfections, wear, or damage.
    • High-quality photos: Showcase the item’s condition from various angles.

Step 4: Set Your Price

  • Research similar used items on Amazon to determine a competitive price. Consider factors like the item’s condition, demand, and fulfilment costs.

Step 5: Choose Fulfillment

  • Decide whether you will fulfil orders yourself (Seller Fulfilled Prime or Merchant Fulfilled) or use Amazon’s FBA service for storage, packaging, and shipping.

Step 6: Finalise and Publish

  • Review your listing for accuracy, including product information, pricing, and fulfilment details.
  • Once satisfied, publish your listing and your used item will be visible to potential buyers on Amazon.
