Cropping a video on the VLC media player
If you wish to crop a video on the VLC media player, you must first preview the crop. You must remember how many pixels you are cropping because you have to enter the same number of pixels later to get the best results.
Step 1: Open the VLC media player on your desktop, click on the Media tab in the toolbar menu and then in the dropdown menu, click on the Open File option, then navigate to the file and double-click on it.
Step 2: After opening the video in VLC, click on the Tools tab in the toolbar menu and then click on the Effects and Filters option in the dropdown menu.
Step 3: In the Adjustments and Effects window, click on the Video Effects tab and then click on the Crop tab.
Step 4: You can either use the UP and Down arrow buttons to adjust the pixel of your video or manually enter them in the box. For example, we have cropped the sample video from the left side and a little from the right.
Step 5: The above-mentioned steps were to get a preview of the cropped video. To crop and save the video permanently, click on the Tools tab and then the Preferences option.
Step 6: Choose All in Show Settings, available at the bottom left corner of the preferences window.
Step 7: Now, scroll down and expand on the Video, then expand Filters and click the Croppadd option.
Step 8: On the right side of the screen, under the Crop section, enter the pixels you chose in the preview.
Step 9: Lastly, click on the Filters on the screen’s left side, checkmark the box beside the Video cropping filter, and click the Save button.
Your video is cropped and saved permanently.
