Discord is popular in various communities, whether gaming teams or professional networks. If you run a server, having clear and concise rules is important to maintain a positive and friendly environment. Making a Discord server rules template can help you save time and ensure your community members understand what they shouldn’t do.
In this article, we have discussed some basic Discord server rules templates and the steps to enable membership screening.

Basic server rules template
Here is the basic server rules template.
- Show Respect: Treat every user with respect, no matter your personal feelings towards them. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
- Watch Your Language: Keep the use of bad language to a minimum. Avoid using offensive language towards anyone.
- No Spamming: Don’t send lots of small messages in quick succession. Don’t disrupt the chat with spam.
- No Inappropriate Content: This server is for the community, so please don’t share adult or explicit content here.
- No Advertisements: We don’t allow any form of advertising, whether it’s for other communities or streams. You can share your content in the media channel if it’s relevant and valuable (videos/art).
- No Inappropriate Names and Display Pictures If our staff finds your name or profile picture inappropriate, we’ll ask you to change them.
- No Doxxing: Do not engage in doxxing, which includes sharing or seeking personal, private, or sensitive information about other members without their explicit consent. This is strictly prohibited and will result in severe consequences.
- No Server Raids: Raiding or talking about raiding other servers is not allowed.
- No Threats: Threats of any kind, like DDoS, harm, or abuse, are strictly prohibited.
- Follow Discord’s Guidelines: Make sure to follow Discord’s community guidelines, which you can find here: Discord Community Guidelines.
- Ask Permission for Voice Chats: Before joining a voice chat channel, check if there’s an open spot or if you’re welcome. Leave if you’re not wanted by those already there.
Our Admins and Mods may mute, kick, or ban as they see fit. If you believe you’ve been treated unfairly, send a direct message to an Admin, and we’ll address the issue.
Pinned messages in all channels will explain their purpose and how everything works. If something’s unclear, feel free to ask.
By being on this server, you agree to follow these rules, including any future changes. We may update them at any time without notice, so you must stay informed.
