If you notice a red light on Eero, you have a problem with the internet connection. Also known as the Eero red light of death, it is the go-to signal by your device that it is time for you to take action and restore the internet.
In this article, we have mentioned six steps that you can take to fix the red light issue.
Check for loose or damaged cables
Loose or damaged cables are often the cause of internet troubles on routers. Therefore, you should start troubleshooting by checking the cables and confirming that the cables are not damaged and are securely plugged into the ports.
While at it, check the main power plug for damages and change it if you feel so. Also, clean the ports once in a while using compressed air to remove dirt and other materials which usually clog the ports and hamper the internet.

Power cycle your Eero router
A power cycle is a process where you turn off the device and then turn it back on. Turn off the Eero device and then unplug it from the main socket. Wait for a few minutes and then replug the device into the power socket.
Wait for the device to boot up and finish. If everything is fine, then you will see a white light instead of a red one.
Change the location of the Eero device
Sometimes, the location of the device is such that there is a loss in signal. Usually, this happens when the device is closer to the ground. So, place the device on a hard surface at a height of at least 3-4 feet.
Ensure that there are no other appliances like a microwave around your device, as they can cause interference with the signals.

Reboot the entire network
Here are the steps to reboot the network:
- Power cycle your Eero device.
- Unplug your modem and router from the main socket and wait for a minute before replugging them.
- After that, wait for both devices to start and stabilise.
Remove and re-add the device
You can try to remove and then re-add the troubled device using the Eero app. Just follow the steps:
- Open the Eero app and tap on the device you want to remove.
- Tap Advance > Remove ‘name of the device’ Eero.
- Now, tap on Remove from Network at the bottom of the screen.
To add the device again, follow the steps given below:
- Open the Eero app and then tap on the blue plus icon at the top right of the screen.
- Go to Add or Replace Eero devices > Add eero device.
- Follow the instructions in the app to add the device.
Check for the internet outage or call Eero support
Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for information about internet outages. You can also try to check the internet services by using third-party websites like Downdetector.
If there is no internet outage and you have followed all of the above steps and still aren’t able to fix the red light issue, then as a final step, you should call Eero support.
