Internet browsers have come a long way from the days of Internet Explorer. Modern browsers are feature-rich and can do a lot of things besides rendering web pages. They aren’t perfect and keep running into errors from time to time.ย

What causes this error?
There are several reasons why you might run into this problem. Some of the most common causes include the following:
- Outdated browser version.
- Internet connectivity issues.
- Corrupt cache or browser files.
- Malware infection.

How to fix this?
Here are nine fixes that you can try out.
Restart your router
Power cycling your network equipment is the fix to more issues than you can think. More often than not, connectivity issues can be caused by an underlying bug in your router and can be fixed by rebooting.
Refresh the page
At times you may also see this message because a page wasnโt able to load properly. In such cases, try refreshing the page to see if you can get the page to load.
Disable Hardware acceleration
Hardware acceleration helps speed up GPU-intensive tasks but can also cause errors with some websites. Try disabling it to see if the browser works fine again.
Step 1: Click on the three-dots icon on the top-right and click on Settings from the options below.
Step 2: Search for Hardware acceleration. Youโll find the setting under System. Just toggle the switch off and then use the Relaunch button to restart Chrome.
Once the browser restarts, try visiting the page again.

Remove any suspicious software
Some adware or malware can also cause this error in your browser.
Step 1: Head over to chrome://settings/reset. Click on Clean unwanted Software.
Step 2: Click the Find button and wait for Chrome to automatically find out and remove unwanted apps/software that might be causing this issue.
Restart the browser and try loading the page again.ย
Disable your extensions
Browser extensions can continue running even after the browser is closed, causing precious memory to be blocked by an application you might not necessarily use.
Head over to chrome://extensions and try disabling all your extensions to check if the browser starts functioning as normal again, If it does, enable them one by one until you have all the essential extensions working again.
Reset browser flags to default
A misconfigured or buggy browser flag can cause this issue as well. Hereโs how you can reset all flags to their default values.
Step 1: Head over to chrome://flags.
Step 2: Click on Reset all in the top right to reset all flags to their default values.
Now restart the browser and try visiting the problematic page again.

Check for updates
If the issue is in Chrome itself, chances are developers might release an update to fix the problem. Regardless, you should always make sure youโve got the latest version of the browser installed to avoid running into problems that could otherwise be avoided.
Head over toย chrome://settings/helpย and make sure youโre on the latest update. If youโre not, update immediately and try again. The *Aw snap* error in Chrome should be fixed.
Clear your browserโs data
Corrupt files in your cache or otherwise can cause this error as well. Clear them out to see if you can get the browser to work.
Step 1: Type in chrome://settings/clearBrowserData in your browserโs address bar and hit Enter.
Step 2: Select the cache and cookies options and make sure the Time range is set to All time. Click on the Clear now button to clear out all the data.
Restart the browser and try visiting the page again.
Reset your browser
Resetting can fix all sorts of random bugs and glitches with your browser.
Step 1: Head over to chrome://settings/reset. Click on Restore settings to their original defaults.
Step 2: Chrome will show you a warning prompt. Click on Reset Settings, and your browser will reset to default settings.
This should fix the error for you.
