Requirements of a Zelle transfer
Digital payment transfers through Zelle work only if the bank account of both the receiver and sender are present in the US. Some other requirements that a money transfer through Zelle requires are:
Details of receiver
To transfer money to someone on Zelle, all you require is either of the details given below:
- Email address of the recipient
- US-based phone number
- Website of the banking institution
You do not require the recipient’s bank or account details or other personal information. Even their bank does not matter as long as both you and the receiver are enrolled recipients. However, you can still send money to someone if they aren’t enrolled on Zelle.
Duration of transfer
Zelle boasts of a quick and easy method of sending money to any US bank account within a few minutes as long as the receiver is an enrolled recipient. Zelle also sends a notification to the sender if the transaction has been made and if the money has reached the receiver’s account.
If you are not enrolled on Zelle by the time the sender has sent the money digitally, then you can still become an enrolled recipient. However, the only drawback is a delay of three to four business days before the money is deposited in your account.
Time-taking transfer
If you have not received your Zelle payment after two or three days of the money transfer, then it might be due to the following complications:
- Your bank or credit union might not be listed with Zelle. Hence, you can download the Zelle app and enroll your credit or debit card.
- You might not be enrolled with Zelle currently. However, you will receive a notification from them asking you to enroll immediately to receive the digital transfer. After enrolling, the money might take a few days to transfer into your account.
- Check twice if you have entered or provided the correct email address or US-based phone number.
- If you are enrolled on Zelle and are still unable to receive any payment, then you should check your bank or credit union’s FAQs or contact their customer support via their mobile app or online banking website.
