Steps to change password on Chromebook

Here are the steps to change the password on your Chromebook:

Step 1: Open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook. Then, click on your Profile picture at the top right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Click Manage your Google Account in the profile box.

Step 3: In the sidebar, click Security, and then on the right side of the screen, scroll down and click on Password available under the Signing in to Google section.

Step 4: Enter the current password and click on the Next button. If you can’t remember your password, click the Forgot password below the password field and follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password.

Step 5: Now, enter the new password, confirm the password, and click on the Change Password button.

This method updates the password for your entire Google account, not only your Chromebook password. So, the next time you access any other Google service or device, such as YouTube or an Android phone, make sure to log in using the updated password.

Reset your Chromebook password without accessing your Chromebook

The password you use for your Chromebook is the same as your Google password. Therefore, if you decide to change your Google password using a device other than your Chromebook, it will also change the password for your Chromebook.

However, if you use your Chromebook to update your password, the device automatically syncs with your Google account. The new password takes effect right away. So, when you turn off your Chromebook and restart it, the updated password will be in effect.
