- Data rollover loss: Any unused data benefit from your postpaid plan will not be carried over to your new prepaid plan.
- Transfer talk time balance (Optional): You can transfer your remaining talk time balance to another Airtel mobile number using the USSD code *141#.

To convert Airtel postpaid to prepaid through the app, follow the steps below:
- Open the Airtel Thanks app on your phone or visit the Airtel website.
- Create an account using your Airtel mobile number if you are not registered.
- On the home screen, tap on the Postpaid to Prepaid option.
- Airtel will display a selection of available prepaid plans. Choose the plan best suits your calling, data, and SMS needs.
- Enter your details like your mobile number, email ID, and an alternate mobile number.
- Carefully review all the information you’ve entered, including the chosen prepaid plan and contact details. Once everything is accurate, tap on the Upgrade to Prepaid Now button.
Airtel will process your request, which typically takes within 24 hours. You’ll receive updates on the progress via SMS or the app. You’ll be notified once the conversion is complete and can start using your Airtel prepaid connection.
Convert Airtel postpaid to prepaid through the website
To convert your Airtel postpaid to prepaid, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Visit the official Airtel website and hover over the Prepaid tab in the menu bar at the top.

Step 2: In the dropdown menu, click on the Port to Airtel Prepaid option.

Step 3: Fill out the form with relevant details like your name, mobile number, PIN Code and address. After you are done, click on the Submit button.

A representative will contact you with the further process. It takes a maximum of 48 hours to port to a new network.
