How to get your RC book online?

In India, a Registration Certificate (RC) book is essential for any vehicle owner. It contains crucial information about your car or bike, like registration details, owner information, and vehicle specifications. Traditionally, obtaining the RC involved visiting the Regional Transport Office (RTO). However, the process has been simplified with the introduction of online services.

This article discusses the steps to download the RC book using the Parivahan Sewa portal and through the Digilocker.


Prerequisites

Before initiating the download, ensure you have the following:

  • Your vehicle’s registration number.
  • Chassis number.
  • Engine number.

Download RC using the Parivahan Sewa portal

Here are the steps to download the RC book using the Parivahan Sewa portal:

Step 1: Visit the Parivahan Sewa portal. Hover over the Online Services tab at the top.

Step 2: Click on the Vehicle Related Services option in the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Choose the state where the RC has been requested.

Step 4: Enter the registration number for your vehicle, select state and RTO, and mark the box. After that, click on the Proceed button.

Step 5: Click on the Download Document button.

Step 6: In the dropdown menu, click on the RC Print (Form 23) option.

Step 7: Enter the registration number, chassis number and engine number, after entering the details click on the Verify Details button.

Step 8: An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number via SMS. Enter the received OTP and your vehicle’s RC is ready to be downloaded in a PDF.

Download RC using the Digilocker

You can also download the RC using Digilocker. To download RC from Digilocker, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Visit the Digilocker website or open the Digilocker app. If you don’t have a Digilocker account then register on Digilocker.

Step 2: In the sidebar, click on the Issued Documents option, and then on the right side, click on the Get More Issued Documents button.

Step 3: Scroll down to the Transport & Infrastructure section and click on the Ministry of Road Transportation and Highways option.

Step 4: Click on the Registration of Vehicles option.

Step 5: Enter the vehicle registration no., chassis no. and click on the Get Document button.

Step 6: Go back to the issued documents tab and your RC book is ready to download in PDF form.
