Step 1: Click the Chat icon beside the Notification icon at the top.
Step 2: If the person is your follower, they will be visible in the chats section; click on the Name and start chatting.
Send chat and messages to a Redditor who doesn’t follow you
If you want to send chat messages to someone who doesn’t follow you on Reddit, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Click on the Chat icon beside the Notification icon at the top.
Step 2: Click on the Add Chat icon at the top left side of the chatbox, type the username in the search box, and select the profile from the results.
Step 3: After selecting the profile, click the Start Chat button at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Another way to send chat messages is to go to the user profile and start chatting; follow the steps below to do that.
Step 1: Click on the username you want to chat with.
Step 2: The user profile will open up; click on the Chat button below the user information.
