If you own a Mac laptop, you may have noticed that it comes with a backlit keyboard, a handy feature. This feature can be a lifesaver when working or typing in low-light conditions, like in a dim room. However, if you’re new to Mac or have never used this feature, you might wonder how to turn on the keyboard backlight.

In this article, we have discussed the various ways to turn the keyboard backlights on Mac in a few simple and easy steps.

Use Keyboard shortcuts

The fastest method to activate the keyboard backlight on a MacBook Pro is by using the brightness keys on your keyboard. Your Mac keyboard has two special keys for adjusting the brightness. To make the backlight shine brightly, keep pressing the decrease key.

The keys to control brightness can vary depending on your MacBook Air or Pro model. In some models, you’ll find these functions on the F1 and F2 keys, while in others, they are on the F5 and F6 keys.

Automatically adjust keyboard brightness

The keyboard brightness settings let your MacBook adjust its brightness in low light. This means the laptop will turn on the keyboard backlight when needed and off when it’s bright enough.

With this feature, your Mac’s keyboard will stay dim during the day and get brighter at night. To enable the low light settings for your keyboard, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Click on the Apple menu, then click on the System Settings option in the dropdown menu.
