Ever got stuck in the dilemma where you need a controller for PC but happen to have a PS4 controller lying around? Well, read on to find out how to use a PS4 controller with your PC.

While there are multiple ways to make this happen, in this article, we’ll be focussing on software called DS4Windows. It is a freeware developed by Jays2Kings and is super easy to set up and use.

The way DS4Windows works is that it essentially emulates an Xbox 360 controller from your PS4 controller. Since Xbox controllers are supported by Windows, your PS4 controllers work just as well.

Step 1: Head to DS4Windows.com

Head to the DS4Windows website and download the software from there. You’ll get a downloadable zip file.

You can get DS4Windows here

Step 2: Extraction and setup

Extract the zip file to a location on your hard drive. You’ll see two programs, DS4Windows and DS4Updater.

Launch the DS4Windows program. Next, choose a place to save profiles. Now, a window will pop up showing you how to install the drivers.

Step 3: Connecting the controller to your PC

Just take any regular micro USB cable and connect your DualShock 4 (PS) controller to your PC. You can also use Bluetooth. DS4Windows will automatically detect it. In some cases, you may have to enter a pairing code. The code would be 0000.

And that’s it, happy gaming!
