Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms on the planet. While most of the platform is relatively well thought out and easy to navigate, even for complete beginners, it’s the internet slang that often catches people out.
Whether they’re simply talking on Reddit or watching their favourite streamers on Twitch or YouTube, different internet communities often come up with their own set of slang and abbreviations that get prevalent in the community over time. Now and then, when a newcomer comes along, they often find it hard to make sense of what’s going on in a particular context.
In this article, we’re going over what the term ‘Instagrammer’ means and where you might encounter it while scrolling along on the platform.
What’s an Instagrammer?
There are essentially two different situations where you’d come across this term.
Generally, an Instagrammer refers to someone who uses the platform regularly to post content and like, share and comment on posts from other users, including their friends and other influencers.
Influencers and content creators on Instagram are often referred to as Instagrammers, much like content creators on YouTube are called YouTubers.
Instagrammer: Account Blocked?
In some cases, you might see a DM in your inbox show up under the label Instagrammer. This can happen due to several reasons, including if the person has disabled their Instagram account, their account has been banned or suspended, or if they have blocked you.
In general, if their account is inaccessible to yours, you’ll see their DMs show up under the Instagrammer label. If that’s the case, you might not be able to look up their profile simply using an Instagram search. If you try visiting their profile from the DM itself, you’ll most likely see them as either ‘Instagrammer’ or ‘Instagram User.’
