Is Apple iPhone 12 waterproof?
No, the iPhone 12 isn’t waterproof; it’s designed to be water-resistant. No iPhone is waterproof, but every model, starting from the iPhone 7, is designed to be water-resistant.
Although the iPhone 12 isn’t waterproof, it does come with a water-resistance rating — IP68.
According to Apple, the iPhone 12 can handle being submerged in about 20 feet (6 meters) of water for up to 30 minutes without getting harmed. However, Apple mentions the water resistance of the iPhone 12 can decrease over time.

What to do if it’s exposed to water?
If your iPhone gets exposed to water, use a lint-free cloth to dry it off gently. Then, tap it lightly with the Lightning port facing down to remove any extra water. Afterwards, position it before a fan with cool air blowing into the Lightning port.
It might take about 24 hours for your iPhone to completely dry. Apple advises against plugging it in until it’s entirely dry to prevent damage. Also, avoid using cotton swabs, paper towels, blow dryers, or compressed air to dry it out.

How to know if it got water-damaged?
Each iPhone 12 model includes a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) that changes colour from white to red upon contact with liquid. Locate this indicator by opening the SIM card tray below the power button on the side of your iPhone 12.
