Lenovo unveils 4th-gen Thinkpad X1 Extreme and 5 new gadgets

Lenovo announced six new additions to its Thinkpad and Thinkvision lineups on Wednesday. The new releases include Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 4, Thinkpad L13 Gen2, L13 Yoga Gen 2, Thinkvision M15 mobile monitor, Thinkvision T24m-20 display and MC50 webcam.

The Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 4 comes packed with the 11th Gen Intel i9 H series processors coupled with Nvidia RTX GPUs. Customers also get up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM and dual SSD support. There’s also option 5G Wireless WAN connectivity. The entire package weighs less than 1.81kg (approximately 4 pounds).

Ryzen 5000 series processors power the Thinkpad L13 Gen 2 and L13 Yoga Gen 2 laptops. They run on integrated AMD Radeon graphics and come with up to 16GB DD4 RAM. Users get up to 1TB PCIe SSD and a match-on-chip fingerprint reader for Windows Hello support. 

Apart from the three laptops, Lenovo also announced the Thinkvision M15 mobile monitor to provide a portable second screen experience over a single USB-C connection. There’s also the Thinkvision T24m-20 display as well as the MC50 webcam.

X1 Extreme is quite extreme on paper

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 4 is loaded with one of the most powerful CPU and GPU components as of right now. Apart from the 11th Gen Intel i9 processors, user can spec out their machines from Intel Iris X graphics all the way up to an RTX 3080 16GB GPU.

You also get a 16-inch up to 4K display which supports HDR400 and can go as high as 600nits when it comes to brightness. The laptop also includes a TPM 2.0, a physical camera shutter and a match-on-chip fingerprint reader for added security. 

The X1 Extreme Gen 4 will be available starting August 2021 from €2099.

The new L13s

The two new variants announced for the L13 are powered by Ryzen 5000 Pro series processors, which is great for battery life while giving them enough processing power to keep up with everyday tasks and a little bit more.

Both the laptops feature a 13.3-inch display that goes up to 1080p in terms of resolution and 300 nits in terms of brightness. The L13 Yoga comes with a touch screen — also an optional add on to Thinkpad L13 Gen 2. You do get the TPM 2.0 chip, a physical camera shutter and a match-on-chip fingerprint reader for added security. 

The Thinkpad L13 Gen 2 and L13 Yoga Gen 2 will be available in August 2021, starting at €649 and €749, respectively.

Other releases from Lenovo include two monitors and a webcam.

ThinkVison M15 Mobile Monitor

This is a portable 15.6=inch IPS 1080p display that weighs only about 0.86kg. The monitor gets its power from an external supply but does support up to 65W USB-C power delivery, meaning you’ll likely be able to power your laptops and use the monitor over a single USB-C connection.

The Thinkivison M15 mobile monitor will be available in Q3 2021 for €229.


ThinkVision T24m-20 Monitor

The Thinkvision T24m-20 is a 23.8-inch FHD monitor the doubles up as a USB-C Docking station. The monitor supports up to 90W USB-C power delivery and also supports daisy-chaining multiple monitor configurations. There’s a mirrored power button on the monitor that can turn on any compatible connected PC.

The Thinkvison T24m-20 Monitor will be available in Q3 2021 for €299.


ThinkVision MC50 Monitor webcam

Finally, the company also unveiled their MC50 monitor webcam. This is a 1080p camera that is designed to fit any Thinkvision P or T series monitor. The camera features dual noise-cancelling microphones and a ‘smart traffic light’, which informs people around the user that they are busy.

The Thinkvison MC50 Monitor Webcam will be available in Q3 2021 for €99. It is supported on the current ’20’ generation Thinkvision P and T series monitors.
