Facebook is one of the most widely-used social networks globally, with its subsidiaries such as Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger adding to the popularity of the company and also their coffers. However, Facebook can be intrusive too; so much so that it doesn’t allow its users on the Messenger app on iPhone to log out, but there is a workaround for that.
According to Facebook’s help page, “You can’t log out of an account on Messenger, but there are other things you can do to reduce notification, make yourself unavailable or stop getting messages from certain people.”
What Facebook means is that you can add another Messenger account to your app and switch to it, turn off your notifications via the options in the app’s settings, block people who you don’t wish to receive messages from and switch your status to inactive.
While switching your status to inactive helps a bit, it still doesn’t log you off from the Messenger app on your iPhone. This can also be tricky if you’ve logged into the Messenger app on someone else’s phone.
