Soundcloud is an audio sharing and streaming platform founded in 2007, which has aided the rise of several music stars in the past decade including the likes of Post Malone, Alina Baraz and Blackbear, among others.

If you’re a budding artist looking for a way to monetise your original compositions, here is how to make money on Soundcloud.

Soundcloud launched a program called Soundcloud Premier in 2018, which helped the creators who want a platform where they can share their talent, gain an audience for their unique tracks and also make some money. Soundcloud Premier also empowers creators to grow their career by using the tools on Soundcloud to instantly share, interact and connect with the audience from across the globe.

But it is not that easy to get enrolled in Soundcloud Premier as you need at least 5000 plays in the past month from the countries where the subscription and advertising of Soundcloud listener are available. These countries include United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand and this list is expected to increase over time.

How much does Soundcloud pay?

According to a report by The Verge, Soundcloud gives 55% of the net revenue share to the artists for the songs they upload with publishing royalties to the right holders and societies, which is more than the Spotify is offering to the artists.

Soundcloud pays directly to creators each month. If your track is an original composition, it’ll be eligible for monetisations and available for discovery immediately upon uploading.

So if you are new in the field, Soundcloud can be a good platform to rise up the charts with your music. Create new, original tracks and share on Soundcloud and make money from it and make a living.
