As a Hotmail user, you may wonder how to sign in to your old Hotmail account. This is a genuine query, as the domain Hotmail.com is unavailable now.

Hotmail is one of the world’s oldest and most popular email services. It was launched in 1996 and later acquired by Microsoft in 1997. Later, Microsoft discontinued Hotmail in 2013, and all the existing Hotmail customers migrated to Outlook.

So, now every Hotmail email account will end in @Outlook.com. People who abandoned their Hotmail accounts may find it hard to retrace their emails.

In this article, we’ll explain two ways to sign in to your old Hotmail account.

Sign in to the old Hotmail account (if you remember your password)

As the new Outlook has replaced the old Hotmail email address, you need to head to Outlook.com or download the Outlook app to sign in to your old Hotmail account.

On the Outlook website

If you still remember your old Hotmail email address and password, type it in the given space and press Next to sign in.

On the Outlook app

If you already use the Outlook app, chances are your current email is already signed in. If not, open Outlook and enter your Hotmail email address and password to sign in. This process is the same as above.

However, if you are already using the Outlook app, the steps will slightly differ:

Step 1: Open Outlook and then click on Add account.

Step 2: Now, enter your Hotmail email address and password to sign in.

In the next section, we’ll see how to recover your Hotmail account if you have forgotten the password.

Sign in to old Hotmail (if you have forgotten the password)

If you have forgotten your Hotmail email or password, there’s only one way to recover and access your account.

Head to the following web address: https://account.live.com/acsr, and then type your Hotmail email address. In the space below it, type the email address you currently use to communicate with the Microsoft team.

After that, press Next and follow the instructions.

In conclusion, although the Hotmail service has been discontinued and rebranded to Outlook, you can still sign in with your old Hotmail account on Outlook, either on the web or the app. In case you forget your password, head to Microsoft’s email recovery page and follow the on-screen instructions to recover your old Hotmail account.
