Spotify is by far one of the most popular music streaming apps on the planet right now. However, as vast as the music library or well polished the experience might be, there are still things that can go wrong with the app.
In this article, we’re taking a look at what to do if your Spotify keeps pausing on Android, iOS, Windows or Mac.
Restart your phone
The first thing you should do is try and restart your phone. This is a simple fix that can solve a bunch of seemingly random problems with just about any app on your phone.

Look for updates
The next thing to do is check for updates both to the Spotify app and your phone. If there’s one available for either, install the update right away and check to see if your issue has been solved.
Reinstall the app
Corrupt data in the app or corrupt cache files can also cause this issue. The best way to get around this is to remove the app and reinstall it from scratch completely. This will ensure that the app gets a fresh start and there are no corrupt files or resources blocking functionality.
Disable battery saver mode
If your phone is running in a power or battery saving mode, try turning it off to see if that resolves the problem. These modes can hamper app functionality to save battery, causing issues like this.

Log out of everywhere
Another rather common fix that has worked for a lot of people is simply going over to the Spotify website and logging out of all devices. After that, you can log back in and start playing without interruptions.
Step 1: Head over to the Account Review page on Spotify and log into your account.
Step 2: Scroll down and click on Log out option.
Now log in again to your Spotify app, and the error should be fixed.
How to fix Spotify pausing on PC?
If the Spotify app on your PC is causing problems, the best way to solve that is by editing the hosts file. Here’s how.
Windows
Step 1: Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following directory:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Step 2: Find a file named hosts and open it in the notepad.
Step 3: Delete any line that mentions Spotify.
Now restart the app, and the Spotify keeps pausing error should be fixed.
Mac
Step 1: Open the Finder window and navigate to the following directory:
/ private / etc / hosts
Step 2: Double-click the hosts file to open it in TextEdit.
Step 3: Check for any addresses with Spotify in them.
