While having spyware on your phone isn’t exactly the greatest feeling, not all tracking and data monitoring apps are considered spyware. Some companies offer consumer data monitoring apps that work just like spyware, except they require a subscription and provide you with a dashboard and everything else you need to monitor a target device.
Umobix is a similar app that’s available on both Android and iOS and offers monitoring capabilities including location history, text and call logs monitoring, keylogger, remote access to the target device and even social media monitoring. We’ll be talking about the app itself, the features it offers and whether or not it’s safe to use.

What is uMobix and what does it do?
As mentioned before, Umobix is one of the best Android and iOS spy apps out there. It’s owned by the Ersten Group Limited, a private company based in the UK and is a relative newcomer to the mobile spy app market considering its 2019 launch. The app is aimed at worrisome parents trying to keep a tab on their kids’ digital activities.
The app offers a 14-day free trial, after which you have to buy the $49.99 monthly subscription. There’s also a 14-day money-back guarantee, meaning if you don’t like the app after making a purchase, you can get your money back within two weeks from the date of purchase.
It doesn’t require a rooted Android or jailbroken iOS device to function and it’s one of the few apps that provide social media monitoring on iPhones. That said, it does limit the app’s functionality, so if you’re installing it on your kids’ phones or on a device that you have regular access to, rooting or jailbroken can be considered based on your use case.
Some of the best features offered by Umobix include call and text monitoring and social media surveillance for apps like Facebook, Snapchat, Whatsapp, Kik and more. You also get GPS location tracking, although geofencing features are missing from the app. Last but not least, you can also remotely access the target device and even stream media from the device’s mic and cameras, although these features are only available on the Android version of the app.
Another rather helpful feature it provides is the monitoring dashboard that can be accessed from anywhere and includes helpful stats like most frequent calls, SMS and social media apps. You can also check out the device’s internet activity including browser bookmarks and most frequent sites.
Is uMobix safe?
Since the app is built to be a monitoring app for parents worried about their kids, it carries features like stealth mode which hides the app and prevents the user from interfering with its functionality. It can prove to be a useful tool to keep a tab on your kids, but it’s also a major invasion of privacy.
Even if we assume that Ersten Group Limited, the company behind the app is safe and doesn’t interfere with or read your data, the app still transmits data over to the dashboard meaning any credential leak or cyberattack can reveal a lot of information.
Due to the nature of the app, it’ll always be an inherent risk and leaves you at the mercy of Ersten Group Limited’s data protection and privacy policies. Man-in-the-middle attacks are also a possibility as losing the credentials to the dashboard means your data will be in the hands of someone else. Overall, it’s a tracking app that’s meant to be invasive and should only be used in extreme circumstances with a lot of care.
