What causes this error code?
The code is triggered when the Zoom client installed on your PC can’t automatically update itself. Common causes include:
- Internet connectivity issues.
- Aggressive third-party antivirus or firewall rules.
- Zoom server outage.
How to fix this?
Here are five fixes you can try out.
Restart your router
One of the first things to do in such situations is to restart your networking equipment. Restarting your router can fix a bunch of seemingly random issues, including your WiFi disappearing all of a sudden. It’s also a good idea to run an ethernet cable from your router to your PC to ensure that you have an active internet connection. If you don’t, reach out to your ISP.

Disable Antivirus
Sometimes overly aggressive third-party antivirus systems tend to block certain applications from accessing the internet or the hardware they require. Try disabling your antivirus to see if Zoom functions as normal, and if it does, it’d be better to add an exception for the program.
Manually update Zoom
A rather quick fix to the problem is to manually update the Zoom client to the latest available version. You can download it by visiting Zoom’s Download Center from your PC or by checking for an update on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Reinstall the app
If updating didn’t fix your issue, try reinstalling the app altogether from the respective app store. Reinstalling apps can give them a fresh start and help iron out any issues.

Contact Zoom support
If nothing else works, your best bet is to reach out to Zoom support and have them fix the issue for you. You’ll have to provide the following information to submit a support ticket here.
- What operating system you are using
- What you were doing when you received this error
- Meeting ID, if in a meeting or trying to join/start a meeting
