Instagram has become a powerful platform for collaboration, allowing users to connect and work together to create engaging and diverse content. While many collaborations are planned, there are instances where you may want to add a collaborator to a post after it has been posted on Instagram.

Once you have posted the post on Instagram, there is no direct way to add a collaborator all you can do is ask the collaborator to repost on their feed or tag the collaborator in the post and caption.

Ask the collaborator to repost on their feed

One way to increase the visibility of your post is by asking your collaboration partner to share your photo, video, or reel on their account and include you as a collaborator. Even though you can’t officially add a collaborator after posting, the other person can still share the content and tag you as a collaborator.

Tag the collaborator in the post and caption

An alternative method is to mention your collaborator in your post, whether it’s a reel or a regular feed post. This way, you can guide some of your audience to check out your collaborator’s profile.

Even though you can’t officially include a collaborator after sharing an Instagram post, tagging them can boost your content’s visibility. This works especially well if you have a substantial following and the person you’re tagging has a decent number of followers.

Go to your Instagram profile, open the post where you want to tag someone and tap on the Triple dot icon.
In the menu, tap on the Edit option.
Tap the Tag People icon at the bottom left of the image or video.
Search for the user you want to tag, add them, and tag more people. Tap on Tag another person. After tagging users in your post, tap on the Tickmark icon at the top right corner of the screen.
On the next screen, type the @name of the user, add them and then tap on the Tickmark icon again.
