If you were temporarily using a friend’s iPhone or one from the office and want to delete your email account from it alongwith all its data on the device, the method to do that is quite simple. But before you go ahead, know that deleting your email account from the iPhone won’t remove the emails or other data from your email account’s server and won’t delete your email account either, which you’ll still be able to access elsewhere. However, if you’ve synced contacts, calendar and notes between your email and iPhone, those will be removed once you delete the email.

How to delete a Mail account from iPhone?
Go to your iPhone’s Settings app and follow the instructions below to delete a Mail account from your iPhone.
- Scroll down in your iPhone’s Settings app and tap on Passwords & Accounts.
- On the next page, tap on the Mail account that you wish to remove.
- On the next page, tap on the Delete Account button at the bottom of the screen.
- Then tap on Delete Account again on the confirmation prompt.
As mentioned above, this will only delete the email account from the Mail app of your iPhone and not any of its data or the account.
Note: The screenshots are from iOS 13, and would work for devices running iOS 12 too. However, if you’re running an older version of the OS, the exact name and positioning of a few of the options might differ slightly.

How to add a Mail account in iPhone?
If you want to replace your deleted Mail account with another one, here is how you can add an email account to Mail app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down in your iPhone’s Settings app and tap on Passwords & Accounts.
- On the next page, scroll to the bottom of the list under the Account heading and tap on Add Account.
- On the next page, choose an email client and continue with the on-screen instructions.
If your email client isn’t mentioned in the list, you can also add an email from some other service or from a self-hosted domain. Follow the steps mentioned below.
- On the Add Account page, tap on the Other option at the bottom of the display
- On the next page, tap on Add Mail Account.
- Then, fill in your name, email address, password and account description and tap on the Next button at the top-right corner of the display. Follow the on-screen instructions.
