Apple’s new iPhone 16 will integrate native Apple Intelligence supported by ChatGPT, offering features such as Image Playground, Clean Up, and Genmoji. Apple announced Apple Intelligence at its WWDC 2024.

Apple Intelligence will first launch in English in the United States and will expand to integrate Australian, Canadian, South African, British, and New Zealand English versions in December. Apple will also provide additional language support, including Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish, next year.

The first set of Apple Intelligence upgrades will begin next month, with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

At the heart of Apple Intelligence is a strong emphasis on user privacy. Unlike many AI systems that process data on centralised servers, Apple Intelligence will be based on a Private Cloud Compute feature.

This means that any data processed using AI-driven tools will remain on the user’s device, ensuring that no information is shared or stored on Apple’s servers.

Apple also announced writing tools for its devices, a key aspect of the upcoming iOS upgrade. These tools are designed to streamline dating, editing and compilation.

In addition, Apple is introducing a unique feature, Genmoji, allowing users to generate new emojis via text-based prompts.

The new ‘Image Playground’ will allow users to create entirely new images from scratch. Apple Intelligence will also help users manage their personal media collections. Through Apple Intelligence, users can search their photos and videos by simply describing the content or entering specific keywords.

Another feature, Clean Up, will allow users to remove background objects from their photos with just a tap. Furthermore, using Apple Intelligence will enable people to arrange the media files into a cohesive storyline.

With ChatGPT integration, Apple Intelligence will answer questions about photos, documents, and mathematical equations without having to change apps.

Apple Intelligence also aims to improve the ease with which users navigate their inboxes and notifications to reduce clutter.

Siri is also set to be overhauled in the new iPhone 16 models. The AI assistant will get screen awareness and will be better equipped to understand speakers, even when they make speech errors, making it more accessible to a wider audience.

The new AI-powered Siri will also offer personalised guidance, using data from users’ messages and media to provide tailored recommendations. This will make it easier for users to complete tasks like updating contact information and navigating applications.

Finally, with Visual Intelligence, iPhone 16 users can learn more about the place by clicking its picture.

Currently, Apple Intelligence is compatible with the following devices:
