While the upcoming iPhone 16 will likely not have any significant upgrades compared to 15, it is set to have Apple Intelligence, new camera controls and slightly bigger screens. A new fourth iPhone model is likely to be introduced in 2025, with the idea of creating an ‘Air’ version of the iPhone.

Along with the Apple’s 16 series which includes iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max , the company is working on a revamped Mac mini and a plastic version of the SE Watch. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman outlined what to expect from this lineup such as new camera controls (at least on Pro models) and inclusion of Apple Intelligence.

All iPhone 16 models, set to be announced next month, will run Apple Intelligence, which will also run on iPhone 15 Pro versions. The non-Pro versions of iPhone 16 will have the Action button seen on higher models of last year’s version.

The Pro versions will get a new camera control on the right side of the phone that will work similarly to the button on a DSLR camera, enabling capture and autofocus from different presses on the button. A harder press will capture, while a light press will trigger autofocus.

The Pro phones feature slightly bigger screens, with the regular Pro increasing from 6.1 to 6.3 inches and the Pro Max increasing from 6.7 to 6.9 inches. New colours, such as a new shade of blue and rose gold, are expected. The models will come with the A18 chip and 8GB memory, which would be the minimum required to be Apple Intelligence. Gurman said that while there are notable upgrades, it would be enough to keep Apple’s sales going.

Alongside current-year announcements, a new ‘Air’ version of the iPhone with a much thinner design will be introduced next year. Gurman said it will sit somewhere between the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro.

A new Mac mini, half the size of the present one, is on the way. The new model, which will be available in regular M4 and M4 Pro variants, will start sales later in 2024. Apple is planning new MacBook Pros and iMacs for this year, while new Mac Studio and Mac Pro are in development.

Additionally, after the company moved saved content back to the main photos grid, they consider iOS 18 complete and are ready to add it to the upcoming iPhone 16 line.

Apple will also be moving to a plastic version of the Apple Watch SE to lower production costs and reduce the watch’s current price of $249. This version will allow for bolder colours and is likely to be more kid-friendly.
