Chrome won’t open Imgur: Quick Fix

  • by
  • 4 min read

Chrome is one of the most user-friendly browsers, but it’s still far from perfect. While it’s usually rather smooth, the browser sometimes runs into random bugs or glitches that can hamper the user experience.

This article discusses why Chrome isn’t opening Imgur and what you can do to get rid of the situation.

Why is Imgur not opening on Chrome?

A website not working on Chrome is a rather common issue and can happen because of several reasons, including:

  • Connectivity issues.
  • Corrupt browser data or cache.
  • Incorrect system date and time.
  • Incorrect DNS settings.
  • Outage on Imgur’s end.

How to fix the Chrome-Imgur issue?

Here are seven fixes you can try out.

Restart your router

Power cycling your network equipment is the fix to more issues than you think. More often than not, connectivity issues can be caused by an underlying bug in your router and can be fixed by rebooting.

Refresh the page

You may also see this message because a page couldn’t load properly. In such cases, try refreshing the page to see if you can get the page to load.

Check Imgur’s server status

The next thing to do is to check if Imgur is online and functioning. You can use their official server status page to check if something’s wrong with the website. If there’s a problem on Imgur’s end, you will have to wait until they can resolve the situation.

Try another browser

One quick workaround for the problem is that you can try a different browser for the time being. This won’t fix the problem with the problematic browser, at least not until the next update rolls out, but can help you get the job done.

Clear your browser’s data

Corrupt files in your cache or otherwise can cause this error as well. Clear them out to see if you can get Chrome to work.

Step 1: Type in chrome://settings/clearBrowserData in your browser’s address bar and hit Enter.

Check for updates

If the issue is in Chrome, developers might release an update to fix the problem. Regardless, you should always ensure you’ve got the latest version of the browser installed to avoid problems that could otherwise be avoided.

Head over to chrome://settings/help and make sure you’re on the latest update. If you’re not, update immediately and try again.
