Countries with the fastest internet download speeds ranked (August)

The Internet is a huge place with over 3.58 billion users worldwide, trillions of websites, millions of people interacting via emails, Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks and much more.

According to the Speedtest Global Index, “To be ranked in each category, countries must have at least 670 unique user results for mobile and at least 3,333 for fixed broadband.”

The average global average for downloads on Mobile was 22.99 Mbps (up from 22.81Mbps last month) and 9.19 Mbps (up from 9.13 Mbps last month) for uploads.

How is this ranking done?

Data for the Index comes from the hundreds of millions of tests taken by real people using Speedtest every month.

Internet measurements made with Speedtest occur at the times and in the places that are most relevant to the person taking the test.

Each time a test is initiated, a snapshot of what the internet looks like in that place and time is recorded. When aggregated together, these individual experiences represent the typical internet performance for a given location.
