How to remove bots from CSGO?

CSGO bots have been an essential part of the game in more ways than you can count. They can fill in for disconnected players during competitive matches, they act as server fillers during deathmatches and most importantly, they’re really good partners to practice your aim with.

However, for all their benefits, bots can sometimes be a headache as well. In this article, we’re going over a few ways using which you can remove bots from CSGO.

Before you get started, make sure you’ve enabled the developer console in your game as all bot related commands go through the developer console.

How to kick bots in CSGO?

Kicking bots for either team is a rather easy task. Just follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Press the tilde (~) key to open the developer console.

Step 2: Type bot_kick t or bot_kick ct to kick the terrorist or counter-terrorist bots respectively. Alternatively, you could simply type bot_kick to kick all bots on the server.

How to make sure bots don’t keep rejoining your games?

By default, the game tries to make sure that each team has an equal number of players, which means that if your team has fewer players than the opposition, or vice-versa, the game will fill the empty spots with bots.

You can kick these bots using the aforementioned method, but they’ll keep respawning every round. To disable this, you’ll have to disable the auto team balancing and team limiting settings.

Step 1: Press the tilde (~) key to open the developer console.

Step 2: Type mp_limitteams 1 and hit enter to stop bots from joining the game.

Step 3: Type mp_autoteambalance 0 and hit enter to stop bots from auto-balancing the team and switch sides back and forth.

Step 4: Finally, kick all remaining bots by typing bot_kick and pressing enter.

Additional CSGO bot commands

Here are a few extra bot commands to help you take more control over how bots behave in the game.

Limiting bot joining quota

Additionally, you can also reduce the bot count using the bot_quota command. The default value is set to ten, but you can reduce it to zero to stop the game from spawning bots altogether.

Limiting bot difficulty

If you don’t want to kick bots out altogether but just want to lower their difficulty, use the bot_difficulty command followed by a number from 1-3 with one being the easiest and three being the hardest.

How to remove the BOT prefix in CSGO?

If you’re looking to remove the BOT prefix before the bot names, here’s how.

Step 1: Find the csgo_english.txt file in Steam/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/csgo/resource.

Step 2: Open the file in a text editor, for example, notepad and find SFUI_bot_decorated_name_BOT% s1.

Step 3: Remove the capitalised BOT from the statement and you’re good to do.

Save the file and restart the game if you haven’t already. The BOT prefix should be gone by now.
