We all have been stuck at places with very weak or no network coverage at some point in time, which makes it tough to make and receive calls. To solve this issue, smartphone manufacturers provide the feature of WiFi calling in most of the latest smartphones and older phones with software updates.
WiFi calling uses the WiFi network to make and receive calls and text messages over a cellular network. We can use this feature with any public or private WiFi network. Carriers route calls over the internet instead of your cellular network.
WiFi calls do not cost extra and will use the normal cellular calling plan you have for your daily usage. Carriers do not differentiate between a normal and WiFi call. WiFi calling feature also provides you relief from international roaming and charges. But you will still be charged according to your international cellular plan by your carrier.

How to enable WiFi calling on iPhone?
To enable WiFi calling on your iPhone, open Settings and follow the steps below.
- Tap on Phone.
- Open the Wi-Fi Calling option.
- Turn on Wi-Fi Calling via the toggle button beside Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone.
How to enable WiFi calling on Android?
Go to your Android device’s settings and follow the steps mentioned below.
- Open WiFi Settings.
- Search for WiFi Calling Option in the WiFi or Connection Menu.
- Toggle the switch to on.
While the screenshot above has been taken from a Samsung device, it is mostly the same for all Android devices. Moreover, you can go to the Settings and search for WiFI calling on the search bar at the top of the page. If your device and carrier support WiFI calling, the option will automatically appear.

To make a WiFi call, you need a smartphone with WiFi calling feature and a carrier that supports the same. Almost all modern smartphones come with WiFi calling. - US: T-Mobile AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, US Cellular.
- UK: BT Mobile, EE, FreedomPop, iD Mobile, O2, Three, Vodafone, Sky Mobile, Virgin Mobile.
- Australia: Telstra, Optus, Vodafone.
- New Zealand:, 2Degrees Mobile .
- Canada: Bell, Telus, Rogers, Fido, Freedom Mobile, Koodo, Videotron,. Virgin Mobile.
