CVS Pharmacy is an online drugstore based solely in the United States. Since its inception in 1963, CVS has opened up 6300 stores nationwide and has been helping its customers with health-related issues. During the Covid pandemic, pharmacies and their companies ramped up their production to meet the demand. At this moment, cashless transactions became necessary rather than optional.

CVS vs Apple Pay

Cashless transactions became the need of the hour among other needs, during the Covid pandemic. Apple users abundantly use Apple Pay; hence many wholesale stores, retailers, restaurant chains, and supermarkets have started using this payment method. However, Apple Pay is not available at all CVS stores. Not only that, you cannot use Apple Pay on their website or their app.

CVS accepts Apple Pay in stores only

There is no solid reason behind CVS pharmacy only accepting Apple Pay in-store, but it might be to reduce the processing fee. A processing fee is an amount that a merchant has to pay to the company whose app is being used to make the payment, which in this case is Apple. Even if you are at the CVS store and are using their app to pay, you will not be able to use Apple Pay.

Acceptable payment methods at CVS

Since CVS pharmacy does not accept Apple Pay on their website or app, you can use other forms of cashless methods. CVS initially came up with CVS Pay which can be found on the CVS Pharmacy app. You can also sign up for a free ExtraCare card at a CVS Pharmacy store or online.

Using an ExtraCare card will help you earn rewards, cashback, and free gift offers. An ExtraCare health card helps you save up to 20% on medicines and other health-related products in CVS stores. You can also get back 2% of the amount you have spent every three months. This 2% will be provided in the form of Extra Care Bucks (ECB) redeemable at any CVS pharmacy.
